Tribe XR | DJ Academy

Tribe XR | DJ Academy is an app for learning to DJ from Tribe XR Inc that sits between creativity software and a rhythm game. You practice mixing on virtual versions of official AlphaTheta equipment, take lessons and perform for an audience. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since September 19, 2019.

What you can do

Lessons come from pointblank Music School and the Pete Tong DJ Academy, and there are live workshops every day (the developer counts more than 30 a week). A subscription, which starts with a free 7-day trial, unlocks the full set of features:

• Load your own music, including from Dropbox.
• Play tracks from Beatport, Monstercat, TIDAL and SoundCloud Go+.
• Learn through game-style tutorials.
• Stream your sets to Twitch straight from the headset.
• Join multiplayer rooms and mix with other people.

If you cancel, a free limited version stays available. It includes starter decks, lets you mix up to five tracks per session, keeps multiplayer access and offers a five-day DJ challenge.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer rooms let you jam with other DJs on both the subscription and the free tier, and the community also gathers on Discord.

Comfort

Meta rates it comfortable for most people. You can mix seated, standing or room-scale, using controllers or hand tracking, and the store marks it as a mixed reality experience.
