Rez Infinite is a music-driven rail shooter with strong rhythm elements, developed by Monstars and Resonair and published by Enhance. It first launched on October 13, 2016, for PS4 with PlayStation VR, came to SteamVR and Rift in August 2017, to Quest in October 2020, and to PS5 with PlayStation VR2 on February 22, 2023. It is a remaster of Rez, the 2001 game created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi.

How it plays

You travel on a fixed path through a digital world and sweep a cursor over enemies to lock on, then release to fire. Every shot, hit and lock-on adds a sound to the soundtrack, so your play builds the music. The package holds the five remastered Areas of the original game plus Area X, a newer stage made with VR in mind, where you fly freely through a 360-degree space of particles and light.

You can play the whole game in VR or on a flat screen. On PS VR2 you can aim with eye tracking, and haptics in the controllers and headset pulse with the beat.

Comfort

Meta rates the game as moderate. Movement is on rails in the classic Areas, while Area X lets you fly freely, which can be harder on sensitive players. It is played seated or standing, with motion controllers or a gamepad.
