Stencil VR is a mixed reality tracing tool for artists, listed under learning and productivity, from the studio Stencil VR. It turns an image into a stencil you place on a physical surface in front of you, resize as needed and trace by hand. It came to the Meta Horizon Store on August 16, 2024.
What you can do
- Load images: upload pictures at stencilvr.com and they sync to the headset, or open files stored on the headset itself.
- Place it: choose from several placement methods to line the stencil up with a surface, and rotate it to match slanted ones.
- Scale it: size the stencil up for a building-sized mural or down for small, detailed work.
- Adjust opacity: fade the image so your own lines stay visible.
- Outline mode: turn any image into line art for easier tracing.
- Offline use: images are stored locally, so you can work without internet.
- Saved layout: the app remembers where you placed the stencil and how big it was, even after you close it.
It does one job, projecting a reference for you to copy onto a real surface, and keeps the setup simple.
