SingRoom - Social Karaoke is a free karaoke app in the media and video category from StasisField. You pick a song, step into a virtual venue and perform, either by yourself or with other people. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since November 3, 2021.
What you can do
SingRoom focuses on the basics of a karaoke night and moves them into VR. The store page highlights four areas:
- Venues: a choice of places to sing, from realistic rooms to fantasy settings.
- Microphone effects: echo and other effects, plus standard karaoke functions.
- Songs: a catalog that mixes well-known tunes with newer tracks, with more songs added over time according to the developer.
- Social features: ways to meet and connect with other singers through music.
The description does not name specific artists or say how large the song list is, so check the store page if you are after particular tracks. Japanese and Korean are supported alongside English, which hints at the audience the app is built for.
Multiplayer
You can sing on your own or join multiplayer sessions with other users, and the developer presents the app as a way to make new friends through music. An internet connection is required.
Comfort
Meta rates SingRoom as comfortable for most people. It supports sitting, standing and room-scale use with Touch controllers, so you can perform from the couch or on your feet.
