Resonite Adds Steam Frame Controller and Eye-Tracking Support for PC VR

Resonite Adds Steam Frame Controller and Eye-Tracking Support for PC VR through Steam Link and Babble Frame Runtime. Resonite still runs on a PC and does not run standalone on Steam Frame.

Resonite is a social VR app where people meet in shared worlds and build interactive objects. These updates affect headset eye tracking, controller input, grabbing, held-item alignment and menu controls. They also give creators access to raw controller data for projects and user-created objects.

Two eye-tracking routes

The 2026.10.27.1325 update adds Steam Frame controller support and eye tracking. According to the developer, Resonite should detect eye tracking automatically when it is enabled in Steam Link. Users running an alternative port must select that matching port in Resonite’s settings.

The October 29 update, version 2026.10.29.1239, adds support for Babble Frame Runtime. Resonite’s existing Babble OSC driver can receive eye-tracking data from the runtime when Babble OSC output is enabled on the headset. The developer says its address should work when left set to Steam Link Host.

This integration supports pupil dilation. It also fixes pupils becoming stuck when multiple tracking drivers are present but the active driver does not provide pupil data.

Babble Frame Runtime currently requires manual installation on the headset. A Steam release is planned. Its release notes distinguish eye tracking through the headset’s cameras from mouth tracking, which requires a separate USB face tracker. Resonite’s update concerns eye-tracking integration, not mouth tracking. Project Babble publishes its runtime releases at Releases · Project-Babble/Babble-Frame-Runtime · GitHub.

Steam Frame controller changes

Resonite provides dedicated Frame controller bindings, with further mapping improvements planned. A new ProtoFlux node exposes raw controller inputs for use in user-created objects.

The October 29 build makes held items easier to align with the trigger, raises the grip threshold for grabbing and fixes an inconsistent menu-button mapping. The controller changes cover both everyday interactions and inputs creators can use in interactive objects.

PC streaming remains required

Steam Frame support does not make Resonite a standalone application. Users still need a PC to run Resonite through PC VR streaming. The developers say a version running directly on Steam Frame needs further work, so standalone Resonite is not included in these updates.

MIXED reported these changes on 2026-10-30. Its report is titled Resonite adds Steam Frame eye tracking and controller support, but still needs a PC. The report includes image captions naming Yellow Dog Man Studios.
