Google's free official YouTube app for headsets: watch 360-degree, VR180 and 3D videos or any regular clip on a giant virtual screen, on Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro and Android XR.
YouTube is Google's official app for watching YouTube inside a headset, and a core pick in the Media & Video category. It began as YouTube VR on Google's Daydream platform on November 10, 2016, and today comes in versions for Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro and Android XR headsets. It is free everywhere.
What it does
The app plays the whole YouTube library on a large virtual screen, plus formats made for headsets: 360-degree video, VR180 and 3D video. You can search by voice or keyboard, with filters for 360°, VR180, 4K and 3D, and signing in brings over your subscriptions, playlists and watch history.
On Quest you can switch between a fully immersive theater and a smaller panel window, or pick a Mixed Reality environment that pins the screen in your room. Purchased movies play at up to 4K, and 8K video needs a Quest 3 or newer.
The Apple Vision Pro app arrived on February 12, 2026, after two years in which owners had to use Safari. It covers Shorts, immersive 360 and VR180 viewing and offline downloads for YouTube Premium members, with 8K playback on the M5 model and up to 4K on the original. On Android XR, YouTube signs in with the account used to set up the headset and adds a spatial tab and filters for 360, 3D and VR180 video.
Watch parties
On Quest, a co-watch feature, still labeled beta, lets you invite up to seven mutual followers to watch 2D videos together as avatars, in VR or mixed reality. For paid videos, everyone in the party has to pay.
Comfort
You watch from a fixed spot, so there is no artificial movement, and the stores show no comfort rating. Some 360-degree videos are filmed with moving cameras, which can feel less comfortable if you are prone to motion sickness.
