Wolvic is a free, open source web browser for Quest that lets you browse the regular web in the headset and open WebXR experiences.
Wolvic is a free productivity app from Igalia: an open source web browser made for XR headsets. It lets you use ordinary websites and web apps inside the headset and also runs immersive WebXR content directly from the web. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on March 16, 2023.
What you can do
Wolvic started life at Mozilla as Firefox Reality. Igalia later took over the project and renamed it Wolvic. The developer stresses security, accessibility and its open source code, and says the interface and controls were designed for immersive headsets rather than ported from a phone or desktop browser.
- Web browsing: regular sites and web apps in a floating browser window.
- WebXR: launch immersive VR and AR experiences hosted on the web.
- Many input options: controllers, hand tracking, a gamepad, gaze, voice and a tracked keyboard are all listed.
- Wide language support: the interface is available in 17 languages.
The store page is short and does not go into features such as tabs, bookmarks or video modes, so expect to explore the menus yourself.
Comfort
Meta rates Wolvic as comfortable for most people. Supported play modes are sitting, standing and room-scale, and you can use controllers, hand tracking, a gamepad, gaze, voice and a tracked keyboard.
