Quest App Launcher is an app for organizing and opening your library, part of the productivity category, from Tomer Verona. Built in Unity, it gives you a customizable grid for starting both regular and sideloaded apps. The launcher is distributed through SideQuest, where it was first listed in August 2019.
What you can do
The launcher starts both 3D VR apps and flat 2D Android apps from one place. It automatically sorts apps into Quest, Go/Gear VR and 2D groups, and you can set up your own categories on top of that. By default it reads each app's name and icon from its package, but you can override both.
- Set custom icons and names, or rename apps
- Download icons and names automatically, with auto-updates
- Resize the grid to fit more or fewer apps
- Sort alphabetically or by most recent use
- Use custom 360-degree or cubemap 3D backgrounds
It supports hand tracking, so you can browse and launch apps without picking up controllers. The developer points to the readme on the project's GitHub page for more detail, and credits a community member, noxx, for the app icon.
How to get it and what to know
- It is free.
- It is installed from SideQuest by sideloading; see our guide to sideloading on Meta Quest.
- Supported headsets: Meta Quest headsets such as the Quest 3 and Quest 3S. The developer says it also runs on the older Oculus Go.
- Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 51 SideQuest users.
