Home Design 3D VR is a creativity and design app for planning and decorating a home, developed by Koalabs and published by Microids. You draw a floor plan, furnish it, then walk through the result in VR. It launched on the Meta Horizon Store on January 12, 2023.
What you can do
The work happens in three stages:
- Plan: in Architect mode, set the wall height, draw the layout, rooms and partitions, and add doors and windows.
- Furnish: choose from more than a thousand pieces of furniture and accessories, each of which you can customize, resize and move.
- Visit and share: tour the finished space, place furniture in your real room using mixed reality, and browse designs shared by other users.
A major update focused on accuracy added a new drafting interface, live measurements for walls and objects, exact sizing for furniture, and support for both metric and imperial units.
Multiplayer
A multi-user mode lets you invite friends into your project, with up to five people online at the same time.
Comfort
Meta rates Home Design 3D VR as comfortable for most people. It supports seated, standing and room-scale play, and you can use Touch controllers. The same update added comfort settings such as vignetting and gradual movement.
