Lies Beneath is a survival horror game for one player with a heavy action focus, developed by Drifter® and published by Oculus Studios. You play as Mae, a college student who returns home to the small town of Slumber, Alaska, and finds it overrun. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since March 31, 2020.
How it plays
Mae is trying to rescue her father while the locals turn hostile and strange creatures spread through town. The game is presented like a comic book you walk through, with frightening scenes built into each area, and the story slowly reveals what happened to Slumber and to Mae herself.
- A full set of melee and ranged weapons for fighting monsters.
- Environmental puzzles to solve as you move through the town.
- Lore objects that fill in the hidden parts of the story.
- Several difficulty levels to choose from.
There is no multiplayer; it is a story-driven solo campaign that also runs on the original Meta Quest.
Comfort
Meta rates Lies Beneath as comfortable for most people, and the developer says it includes comfort settings so you can adjust the experience to suit you. It supports seated, standing and room-scale play with controllers. The content itself is graphic horror, which is reflected in the age rating.
