The VR IS DEAD Halloween Jam 2026 results name Kick the Bucket VR by Button Masher Brew Games as the overall winner among 17 free entries. The three-week itch.io game jam was hosted by YouTuber Fist Full of Shrimp and used the theme "Graveyard Shift."
Rating closed on October 29 after 119 ratings across all 17 entries. Every entry can be downloaded for free. The Meta Quest winner ranked first for both use of theme and innovation.
The five highest-scoring entries
- 1. Kick the Bucket VR — score 3.767. This seated Meta Quest game casts you as a night-shift grave digger in the early 1990s. Dig five graves with a backhoe before the sun comes up at 6:00 AM. Your supervisor, Earl, calls over a CB radio, while mixtapes in the cab provide temporary boosts.
- 2. Trick or Yeet! VR by Duneadaim — score 3.756. This casual tower defense game puts you in control of a front-yard decoration that scares off trick-or-treaters across 11 waves. Windows and Android builds are available.
- 3. No Smoking at the Gas Station by endenis — score 3.717. This short horror-comedy focuses on putting out fires during a night shift. It supports PC VR and Quest 3.
- 4. Haunted Cleanup VR by ChrisLHall — score 3.660. It had the jam's highest enjoyment score. Sweep and scrub a haunted house in the WebXR build, which runs in a headset browser without an installation.
- 5. Agent of C.H.A.R.M. by Mossbone Digital — score 3.617. This Godot demo ranked first for aesthetics and sound design.
Update (2026-11-01): New build and engine details
Update (2026-11-01): VR.org reports that five entries identify Godot, while Deliverboo, Candlelight and Haunted Cleanup credit Godot XR Tools. Princess Sakura's Eternal Battle is the only entry built for Google Cardboard. It can run on an Android phone in split-screen mode without a viewer.
VR.org also reports that 12 entries have Android builds, 11 have Windows builds, and eight support both platforms. Deliverboo includes Arm64, x86_64 Linux, Windows and Android builds. Beak & Bone includes Linux ARM and Windows ARM builds.
Kawaii Zombie Makeover uses hand tracking and was submitted 13 minutes and 31 seconds before the host's deadline. Haunted Cleanup VR includes a Quest APK, Windows build and browser-free-install option.
Theme, dates and judging
Submissions ran from October 1 to October 23 (UTC). The theme appeared when the jam began as a title card on its jam page: "Graveyard Shift." Entries were judged on enjoyment, theme or Halloween spirit, aesthetics, sound design and innovation.
The prize is bragging rights. The top three teams receive special titles on the host's Discord server. The host's FAQ encouraged developers to target as many headsets as possible and make both PC and Android builds.
Platforms and download limits
The jam's platform filter counts 12 Android builds, 11 Windows builds, 3 Linux builds, 1 macOS build and 2 browser-playable entries. Eight entries support both Android and Windows. Developers can continue updating their games, but ratings use the files uploaded during the jam. No Smoking at the Gas Station has since received a bug-fix version.
All 17 entries appear on the submissions page, and itch.io does not require an account to download them. Android builds are APK files for standalone headsets and need to be sideloaded onto a Quest. Windows builds target PC VR setups such as SteamVR.
These are games made in three weeks, so some edges remain rough. Haunted Cleanup VR labels its Windows build untested, and its developer is unsure whether the Manor level can be completed.
