Chinese AR glasses maker Rokid has opened a self-service store in Hong Kong with no sales staff, which it calls the world's first unmanned AI glasses experience store, according to the company's press release and a report by MIXED. The shop is at Shop 323A, Level 3, Ocean Centre, Harbour City, on Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui.
How the store works
Visitors try Rokid Glasses on their own across eight demonstration zones covering real-time translation, AI answers, navigation, media capture and visual search on the in-lens display. Everything from the demo to payment is self-service, with automated checkout.
- Opening offer: the first 500 buyers at the store get a Rokid Joy Pack that Rokid values at HK$4,688 (about $600), plus a limited-edition souvenir.
- What's in the pack: Rokid Max AR glasses, a tethered display-glasses design of the kind XREAL also sells, and Rokid Station, a portable Android TV device for streaming. It is not a discount on Rokid Glasses.
- Other channels: buyers through Rokid's Hong Kong website and retailers including Broadway, csl, Fortress, Optical 88 and SOGO can also get a Joy Pack while supplies last, until October 31.
Rokid's release does not list a retail price for Rokid Glasses, opening hours or a sales target, MIXED notes.
A different bet from Meta
Zoro Shao, Rokid's Vice President and Global General Manager, said the store aims to "reach both Hong Kong shoppers and visitors from around the world," and described Hong Kong as a base for expansion across Asia-Pacific.
The approach runs opposite to Meta's. As MIXED points out, Meta has opened staffed Meta Lab stores in Arizona, Georgia and New York whose job is to fit glasses and explain them in person. Rokid is testing whether demos alone can sell a display in a lens.
The release also repeats Rokid's claim that Counterpoint Research ranked it first worldwide by AR and AI glasses shipment share in the first half of 2026. That is the company's framing of the data, and it is not broken out further in the announcement. Rokid also says it has launched its AIUI Studio development environment globally to speed up app development for its glasses.
For shoppers in Hong Kong, the practical news is a place to try display glasses without a sales pitch, and a bundled second pair of AR glasses for early buyers until the end of October.
