I Am Monkey is a sandbox simulation game from New Folder Games. You play as a monkey living in a zoo cage, watching visitors come and go. Some are gentle and bring gifts, others are loud, mocking or aggressive, and each encounter shifts the mood between comedy, chaos and tension. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on October 8, 2025 and is in early access.
How it plays
The cage works as a physics playground. Almost everything in it reacts to you, from the bars and the floor to whatever visitors hand over or drop.
- Physics interactions: grab bananas, snatch cameras, throw objects and swing on the bars.
- Different visitors: people can be cute, friendly, teasing or hostile.
- Your choice of approach: charm visitors, ignore them or resist them.
- Grabbing visitors: you can reach for their belongings, and even the visitors themselves.
There is no fixed script: the developer describes each visit as shaping the monkey's story, so sessions play out differently depending on who shows up and how you respond. Behind the slapstick, the game also wants you to think about what life behind bars feels like.
Comfort
Meta gives I Am Monkey a moderate comfort rating. It supports standing and room-scale play with controllers; there is no seated mode listed.
