A free open-world demo where you race a hover car over endless generated terrain, then explore on foot with a jetpack and a plasma rifle.
Hover Quest Demo is a free action and adventure demo from jasonofthestorm. It is an early build of an open-world game built around a fast hover car, a landscape that keeps generating as you travel, and destinations to explore on foot. It was first listed on SideQuest in September 2019.
How it plays
Driving happens in an interactive cockpit with two throttles. You can launch off hills, drift through tight corners and attempt a loop if you are brave enough. When you reach a destination, you climb out of the car and switch to on-foot activities, with several ways to get around.
- A hover car steered with dual throttles in the cockpit
- Endless procedurally generated terrain
- Running or teleporting on foot
- Climbing huge structures and flying with a jetpack
- Shooting alien creatures with a plasma rifle
The developer says the current focus is building and demonstrating the game's systems. After that, the plan is to work with a professional artist on the visuals and to expand the world and story.
Comfort
The developer warns that Hover Quest uses several extreme movement mechanics and does not recommend it for players prone to motion sickness in VR. Take it slowly if you are new to fast artificial movement.
