Micro-OLED

OLEDoS, OLED-on-silicon, micro OLED, uOLED के नाम से भी जाना जाता है

Micro-OLED is a display built directly on a silicon chip, packing very small self-lit pixels into a tiny panel; it gives high-end headsets sharp images and deep blacks.

Micro-OLED, also called OLED-on-silicon or OLEDoS, is a type of display where organic light-emitting pixels are built on top of a silicon wafer instead of a glass panel. This allows extremely small pixels, so a panel only about the size of a postage stamp can hold millions of them.

Why headsets use it

  • High pixel density, which raises pixels per degree and hides the screen-door effect.
  • True blacks and high contrast, because each pixel produces its own light and can switch off completely.
  • Small, light optics, since tiny panels pair well with pancake lenses.

Trade-offs

Micro-OLED panels are expensive to make, which is one reason they appear mostly in premium headsets. Their small size combined with light-hungry pancake optics can also limit brightness compared with some LCD designs.

Examples

Headsets with micro-OLED displays include the Apple Vision Pro, the Samsung Galaxy XR and the Bigscreen Beyond 2.
