Wallace & Gromit in The Grand Getaway is a story-led adventure from Aardman, Atlas V, No Ghost, Albyon and Reynard Films, published by Astrea. Wallace and Gromit plan a relaxing golf holiday, but a series of accidents throws them off course, taking them from West Wallaby Street out into deep space. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on December 7, 2023.
How it plays
You take control of Wallace, Gromit and a new invention called the Auto-Caddy as the story moves along. The trip includes mini-games you can come back to, alien worlds with unfamiliar creatures and well-known locations from the films, all with Aardman's familiar humor.
A separate mixed reality mini-game, Jamtastic, puts you in charge of testing Wallace's jam-to-toast delivery machine in your own room. It has 30 levels of aiming at toast and other targets for a high score, with Wallace calling in from his holiday now and then.
The store credits Aardman, known for Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run and Shaun the Sheep, together with Atlas V, which made Madrid Noir and Gloomy Eyes.
Comfort
Meta rates it comfortable for most people. The store lists it for standing play only. It works with controllers or hand tracking.
