The Line

The Line is a short interactive story in the adventure category from ARVORE, published by ARVORE IMMERSIVE GAMES INC.. Lasting around 15 to 20 minutes, it follows Pedro and Rosa, two tiny dolls living in a scale model of São Paulo in the 1940s. They are ideal for each other but afraid to act on their feelings, and the story is about love and the fear of change. It came to the Meta Horizon Store on May 28, 2020.

How it plays

You move the story forward by handling the model itself: pulling knobs, triggering its mechanisms and even crawling underneath the machinery to see what happens next. Hand tracking is supported, which suits this kind of gentle, hands-on interaction. The developer recommends it as a first VR experience for newcomers.

The store page lists two awards: the 2020 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Innovation in Interactive Media and Best VR Experience at the 76th Venice International Film Festival. Narration is available in English, Portuguese, Korean and Simplified Chinese, with SDH subtitles in eight languages.

Comfort

Meta rates it comfortable for most people. The store lists support for playing sitting or at room scale. It works with controllers or hand tracking.
