Owlchemy Labs' comedy sequel to Job Simulator: robots invite you to a beach, forest and mountain to collect vacation memories through hands-on, physical play.
Vacation Simulator is a comedy simulation game from Owlchemy Labs, the studio behind Job Simulator. It launched on April 9, 2019, on SteamVR and Rift, then reached PlayStation VR in June 2019 and Quest on December 12, 2019. Later versions came to PlayStation VR2 in February 2023, the PICO Store in July 2023, Apple Vision Pro in May 2024 and Android XR with Galaxy XR in October 2025. It has sold more than one million copies.
How it plays
In the year 2060, robots called Bots try to recreate the human vacation on Vacation Island. You visit a beach, a forest and a mountain from a resort hub, and almost everything can be picked up, thrown, cooked or broken. Bots give you tasks, from building sandcastles to skiing and painting, and finishing them earns Memories on your wristwatch. Memories unlock bonus areas and move the story forward. The free Back to Job update adds a poolside cabana where you serve vacationing Bots, mixing in ideas from Job Simulator.
Comfort
Meta rates it comfortable. You move between fixed spots and then walk around a small play area, so there is no smooth locomotion. World scaling and adjustable table heights help seated players and people of different heights. On Quest you can play with controllers or with hand tracking.
What to know before buying
- It costs $19.99 on the Meta Horizon Store, Steam, the PICO Store, Apple Vision Pro, Google Play and the PlayStation Store, where one listing covers PS4 and PS5. PS VR owners got the PS VR2 version free.
- On Quest it runs on Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest Pro. The PS VR2 version needs a play area of about 2 by 2 meters.
- It is single-player, rated PEGI 3 (ESRB Everyone 10+ for crude humor), and includes accessibility options such as a one-handed mode.
