A free demo of a turn-based roguelike RPG where you cast spells with hand tracking while trying to escape from a mysterious prison.
Hand Spell | Demo is the demo of a turn-based strategy RPG from KOSMIQ, played with hand tracking. You get one chance to break out of a mysterious prison and reach the surface. It is distributed through SideQuest, where it was first listed in June 2020. The full game has its own separate SideQuest listing.
How it plays
Fights are turn-based, and runs include random elements, so attempts play out differently. You cast spells with your bare hands through Quest hand tracking rather than with buttons, and skill cards describe each ability. The listing summary adds that the game has roguelike elements.
An October 2020 update added a permanent upgrade and unlock system. Your score now carries over and can be spent on upgrades and unlocks from the title screen. The same update fixed a guard skill card that showed the wrong hand pose, matched skill text to the cards, made the right-hand fire spell easier to trigger, and tweaked balance and the interface.
The developer thanks a group of community testers for suggestions and points players to a Discord server for news.
Comfort
The developer designed it to be played seated and says it causes almost no motion sickness. SideQuest also marks it as a seated game.
