Apple

The US tech company behind Apple Vision Pro, visionOS and the visionOS App Store, focused on spatial computing, immersive video and apps rather than games.

About Apple

Apple was founded in 1976 and is based in Cupertino, California. It makes the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and AirPods, designs its own chips, and runs the App Store and services such as Apple TV and Apple Music.

VR and spatial computing

Apple entered the headset market with Vision Pro, which it calls a spatial computer. The first Apple Vision Pro launched in the United States in February 2024 at $3,499, with micro-OLED displays, the M2 chip and control by eyes, hands and voice instead of controllers. In October 2025, Apple replaced it with Apple Vision Pro (M5). It added a faster chip, refresh rates up to 120 Hz, longer battery life and the Dual Knit Band, at the same starting price.

Platform

Vision Pro runs visionOS, and apps come from the visionOS App Store. Many iPhone and iPad apps run there too. Apple's approach centers on productivity, entertainment and shared experiences: Mac Virtual Display, 3D movies, Apple Immersive Video and spatial photos and videos captured on iPhone. Games are a smaller part of the platform, though visionOS 26 added support for the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers.
