XREAL's Android XR glasses now have a price. On October 7, 2026, the company announced in an official press release that Aura, developed with Google and Qualcomm and previously known as Project Aura, starts at $1,279. Like Samsung's Galaxy XR headset, it runs Google's Android XR platform.
Prices and configurations
- 12GB RAM / 256GB: $1,279 (CA$1,829, ¥229,800, ₩1,990,000)
- 16GB RAM / 512GB: $1,499 (CA$2,149, ¥269,800, ₩2,290,000)
- Glasses come in two sizes, M (60–66mm) and L (66–72mm), at no extra charge
How it works
Aura splits the hardware in two. The glasses use an optical see-through design that weighs under 95 grams, with a 70-degree field of view, hand tracking and audio by Bose. A tethered compute puck runs Android XR with Google Play and Gemini on a Snapdragon Reality Elite chip, and doubles as a trackpad that clips to a pocket or lanyard. Because you look through the lenses rather than at a camera feed, the real world stays in direct view while apps float in front of it.
Who can order, and when
Pre-orders are open first to customers who paid a reservation deposit before October 7; general orders follow in the coming weeks. Shipping starts in the US, Canada, Japan and South Korea, with more markets planned for 2027. 9to5Google reports that the first delivery wave is expected before the holidays, and new buyers can still place a refundable deposit on XREAL's Aura page for priority delivery.
What it means for buyers
Aura lands in the same price range as Meta's newly announced $1,299.99 Meta VR Glasses, which are not due until spring 2027, and well below the Galaxy XR headset. It is a different kind of device, though: see-through glasses aimed at screens, apps and productivity rather than fully immersive VR games. Buyers who want a light, wearable Android XR display this year now have a concrete option, while those mainly interested in VR gaming will still find more on headsets.
