EssilorLuxottica's Wearables Revenue Grows 20% in Q3 2026 as Smart-Glasses Growth Cools

EssilorLuxottica, the eyewear giant that builds Meta's AI glasses, said its wearables revenue grew 20% in the third quarter of 2026, according to MIXED and the company's Q3 revenue release. FashionUnited reports the division brought in €486 million in the quarter, while Finimize notes that growth slowed from nearly 100% in the prior quarter.

The numbers

  • Group revenue: €7,486 million for July to September, up 9.0% year on year, or 7.2% at constant exchange rates.
  • Nine months: €22,304 million, up 8.9% at constant exchange rates.
  • Wearables: up 20% at constant exchange rates. FashionUnited puts the quarter at €486 million and the first nine months at €1.26 billion; Finimize calls it about 6.5% of group sales.
  • Elsewhere: direct-to-consumer sales rose 10.6% and the myopia management portfolio grew 24%.

The wearables line combines two different products: AI glasses made with Meta, such as the Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta ranges, and Nuance Audio hearing glasses. As MIXED points out, EssilorLuxottica does not split the two, so the figure says nothing on its own about how many Ray-Ban Meta glasses were sold.

Why growth slowed

Finimize attributes the drop from almost 100% growth to 20% largely to tougher comparisons, since the category ramped up sharply a year earlier. Chairman and CEO Francesco Milleri and Deputy CEO Paul du Saillant still framed the result as proof of demand, saying the 20% rise was "confirming the strong momentum behind this emerging category we continue to lead."

The results arrived in the same month that Meta, in its own third-quarter update, said Quest sales fell and that new VR headsets now depend on "major breakthroughs." Glasses, not headsets, are where both companies are pointing their growth story.

What comes next

The two executives said new AI glasses launches and the rollout of Nuance Audio Plus will strengthen the range "as we head into the holiday season," without naming the new glasses. Nuance Audio Plus launched in mid-September and starts at $829 in the US, according to MIXED.

For readers following the smart-glasses market, the takeaway is that the category is still growing, but no longer at its earlier pace. The holiday quarter, with Meta's September line-up on shelves, will show whether 20% is a dip or a new normal.
