Penguin Paradise

Penguin Paradise is a free-to-play action party game with shooter modes from Sava Studios, published under the Sava name. You waddle around a snowy arctic world as a penguin with friends and hop between a long list of mini games. It arrived on the Meta Horizon Store on March 21, 2024.

How it plays

The game is built around short modes you can jump between. The store page lists these:

• Sled Races: four players slide down a hill track to the finish.
• Yeti: sneak into a yeti nest, grab loot and escape, or take the role of the Yeti and chase everyone else.
• Penguin Royale: drop from a zeppelin, collect guns and a shield, and freeze rivals with snowballs before a blizzard closes in.
• World Masters: build your own penguin world and invite friends to play mini games in it.
• Ghost Maze: reach the middle of a maze while a ghost tries to scare you back to the start.
• Freeze Tag: dodge the icy tagger, or wait for a teammate to unfreeze you.
• Airplanes: fly around freely or join player-versus-player dogfights.
• Cube Wars: a team race to collect cubes, with weapons on hand if the other side gets close.

Between modes you can also just ski the half-pipes.

Multiplayer

Nearly every mode is a group activity, from four-player sled races to team games like Cube Wars, so the game is built around playing with other people online.

Comfort

Meta gives it a moderate comfort rating, so it suits some players more than others. It supports standing and room-scale play and is played with Touch controllers. If you are prone to motion sickness in VR, ease into the faster modes such as sledding and flying.
