Let's Go Chopping! is an action and adventure game from Soaring Roc Studio that mixes physics-driven melee and ranged combat with a trip to the shops. You work through grocery lists inside a store overrun by zombies, and the developer describes the tone as zany and violent. This free demo version is distributed through SideQuest, where it was first listed in September 2020.

How it plays

Each run hands you a shopping list to complete while zombies crowd the aisles. Finishing lists, and taking on harder trips, pays out in-game money that you spend on new weapons, customization options and extras. Combat relies on physics, so how you swing and aim matters more than button timing.

  • Melee and ranged weapons, including weapons you hold with both hands
  • An upgrade system you can shape around your play style
  • Support for a 90 Hz mode on Quest 2 and for the bHaptics vest
  • A "Zombie Kill of the Week" feature, where clips sent in by players can appear on a monitor inside the game

The developer notes that recent updates brought many bug fixes and balance changes based on player feedback.

Comfort

SideQuest rates the comfort level as moderate. Players who are sensitive to artificial movement can read our guide to motion sickness in VR.

How to get it and what to know

  • The SideQuest version is a free demo. Some weapons and unlocks are marked "PAID ONLY" in the in-game store and require the full game, which is sold through itch.io.
  • Progress from the demo carries over when you sideload the full version.
  • It is installed from SideQuest by sideloading; see our guide to sideloading on Meta Quest.
  • Supported headsets: Meta Quest headsets such as the Quest 3 and Quest 3S. The developer also mentions PC VR headsets.
  • The developer labels both the game and the demo as early access and still in active development.
  • Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 144 SideQuest users.
