PICO

The Beijing-founded VR brand owned by ByteDance that makes the PICO 4 Ultra standalone headset and runs the PICO Store, with sales focused on Asia and Europe.

About PICO

PICO is a VR hardware and software company founded in Beijing in 2015. ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, acquired it in 2021, and PICO now operates as ByteDance's VR business. Its standalone headsets compete mainly with Meta's Quest line. It sells consumer headsets in China, other parts of Asia and Europe, but not to consumers in the United States. PICO also offers business editions of its headsets.

VR products

PICO's current consumer headset is the PICO 4 Ultra, launched in September 2024. It has a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2, 12 GB of RAM, pancake lenses and two 32-megapixel cameras for color passthrough. PICO also makes small Motion Trackers that add full-body tracking in supported apps. The PICO 4 Ultra followed the PICO 4, which helped establish the brand in Europe.

Platform

PICO headsets run PICO OS and install apps from the PICO Store. The store carries many cross-platform VR games along with fitness, video and social apps. PICO Connect, the company's streaming software, links its headsets to a PC so they can play SteamVR games over a cable or Wi-Fi.
