Relaxed, physics-based mini golf across imaginative 18-hole courses, with day and night versions and cross-play rooms for up to 8 players.
Walkabout Mini Golf is a sports game from Austin studio Mighty Coconut. It launched on Meta Quest in September 2020 and has since come to SteamVR, the PICO Store and PlayStation VR2. Some stores list it as Walkabout Mini Golf VR.
How it plays
You hold the putter with one controller and swing as you would on a real course. Ball physics respond to the speed and angle of your stroke, so it is easy for anyone to pick up while still rewarding careful play. Each course is a themed world with its own look and music, from fantasy islands to licensed settings, and every course has a standard version and a harder night version with collectibles to find.
Content
- The base game includes 14 courses of 18 holes, each with a hard or night variant.
- New paid courses arrive regularly as add-ons; the Alice's Adventures in Wonderland course in September 2025 was the 37th course.
- On PlayStation, six former add-on courses were folded into the base game when its price rose to $24.99.
Multiplayer
You can play alone, join a quick one-on-one match, or create private rooms for up to eight players. Cross-play links Quest, PlayStation VR2, Steam, PICO and the Pocket Edition on iPhone and iPad. According to the studio, more than half of VR sessions are multiplayer, which also makes it a popular social hangout.
Comfort
Meta rates the game as comfortable. You can move around the course by walking, teleporting, smooth locomotion or flying, and play seated, standing or in room scale. It is a good first game for people new to VR.
What to know before buying
The base game costs $24.99 on Quest, Steam and PlayStation. Add-on courses cost a few dollars each. It is rated PEGI 7.
