The Blood Eclipse

The Blood Eclipse is a multiplayer shooter from Brandon Smith (Onionman77) that pits human heroes against zombie players. It is set in a town where a massacre happened under a Blood Eclipse centuries ago, and where death does not quite stick on such a night. It is distributed through SideQuest, and its listing there is dated October 2018.

How it plays

Each player picks a character, then joins or creates a match. Once inside, you have limited time to search for weapons and complete the goals of the chosen scenario. The game includes:

• 6 playable characters, among them a WWII fighter pilot, a cowgirl and a 1930s pinup girl
• 4 maps: an abandoned town, a hotel lobby, office halls and sewers
• 5 scenarios: a zombie-killing mode, manor defense, a truck escape, battle royale and deathmatch
• 6 weapons to find, including a Colt Python, a flamethrower and a minigun

Multiplayer

Matches hold up to six players at once: up to four humans and two zombies. Some scenarios have the humans working together, such as defending the manor or escaping by truck, while battle royale and deathmatch are competitive. Because the cast is split between human and zombie players, part of the challenge comes from other people rather than only from the game.
