Superhot VR

от SUPERHOT Team

A stylish action puzzle where time moves only when you move: dodge bullets, grab weapons and clear each scene of red glass enemies.

Superhot VR is an action game from Polish studio SUPERHOT Team. It first launched on the Oculus Rift in December 2016 and is now sold on the Meta Horizon Store and SteamVR. Although it shares a name and look with the flat-screen SUPERHOT, it is a separate game with levels built around motion controllers.

How it plays

The core idea is simple: time crawls when you stand still and speeds up when you move your head or hands. Each level drops you into a short scene full of red crystalline enemies, and you have to survive by punching, throwing objects, and grabbing pistols, shotguns and other weapons. Bullets travel slowly enough to see, so you can lean out of their path or knock them aside.

Because you control the pace, every encounter feels like a mix of shooter and puzzle: you plan moves, act, and watch the action unfold in slow motion. The campaign is fairly short, and the free "Forever" update added challenge modes for replay value.

Comfort

Superhot VR has no joystick movement. You stand in place and move your body, and each scene teleports you to the next. That makes it comfortable for most players, though you will duck and dodge a lot, so a cleared area helps.

What to know before buying

  • It costs $24.99 on Quest and Steam.
  • In July 2021 the developers removed scenes depicting self-harm from the game.
  • A version for the original PlayStation VR exists on PS4; there is no native PlayStation VR2 edition.
  • It is rated PEGI 12 for stylized violence.

It remains one of the best-known early VR hits and a good way to show the medium to newcomers.
