Beyond Sandbox is an early access VR physics sandbox and modding platform for Meta Quest, with starter sandbox, PvP shooter and zombie horde modes.
Beyond Sandbox is a multiplayer physics sandbox and modding platform from Atlas XR, published by 2080 Games and built on Unreal Engine 5. Out of the box it offers physics simulation play, shooter modes and a zombie mode, with most future content meant to come from modders. It arrived on the Meta Horizon Store on April 23, 2026, in early access.
How it plays
The core is a playground of advanced physics and detailed VR interactions that you can use alone or with friends. The developer designed the game around mods from the start, and its Reality SDK gives creators the tools to build new content for other players.
Early access ships with three starter experiences made with that SDK:
- Sandbox: free play with the physics systems.
- PvP Shooter Modes: action matches against other players.
- Zombie Horde Mode: hold out against waves of zombies.
Atlas XR says the modding community will keep adding more beyond these.
Multiplayer
Single-player, multiplayer and co-op are all listed. The store text keeps it short, saying physics is more fun with friends; the PvP shooter modes and the zombie horde mode are where group play comes in.
Comfort
Meta gives Beyond Sandbox a moderate comfort rating. It supports sitting, standing or room-scale play, and it uses controllers.
