GDC Festival of Gaming 2027
The game industry's biggest professional gathering, formerly the Game Developers Conference, returns to San Francisco's Moscone Center from March 1 to 4, 2027.

The GDC Festival of Gaming is the new name of the Game Developers Conference, the long-running professional event for the games industry, produced by Informa. The 2027 edition takes place from March 1 to 4, 2027, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.
The organizers describe it as the place where the whole business-to-business games industry meets: design, programming, art, audio, production, publishing, marketing and investment. The site lists a Business Hall and a Festival Hall alongside the talks program. Hall opening days have not been published yet.
GDC is not a VR-only event, but it matters to VR and XR developers for several reasons:
- Developers of VR and mixed reality games often give postmortems and design talks there
- Platform holders and engine makers use it to brief developers on tools and roadmaps
- It is a major meeting point for studios, publishers and investors, including those working on immersive games
The session catalog, speaker list and pass types are published on the official GDC site as the event gets closer. Any XR-specific sessions or exhibitors should be confirmed there.
