PLAY'A Video Player is a free media app from In Reality, Inc for watching your own videos and photos in a headset. It plays files stored on the device and can also stream from servers on your network. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since March 29, 2021.

What you can do

The developer aims it at people who want a player without fuss, with a clean interface and easy folder browsing. It works out the video type on its own, whether the file is flat 2D, 3D, fisheye, 180-degree or 360-degree.

  • Support for most video formats, including 8K playback on Quest 2 according to the developer.
  • A picture viewer with a slideshow.
  • Shake smoothing to steady shaky footage.
  • Privacy modes.
  • Image controls for brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, tint and color temperature.
  • VR video controls for tilt, height, zoom and playback speed.

PLAY'A is a tool for your own media library. The store text does not mention any built-in videos or a streaming service of its own, so you need files on the headset or a media server on your network to get anything out of it.

Comfort

It supports sitting, standing and room-scale play and uses controllers, with no hand tracking listed. The developer suggests settling onto a couch and starting a video, and navigation is designed to be easy both in and out of VR.
