PianoVision

PianoVision is a learning and education app from ZarApps that teaches piano in mixed reality, guiding you on a real MIDI keyboard or on a virtual piano. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since October 10, 2023.

What you can do

The one-time purchase gets you PianoVision Basic:

• more than 1,000 public domain songs and exercises
• support for a connected MIDI keyboard or the built-in virtual piano
• importing your own songs, with sections and fingerings set up for them

An optional PianoVision Plus subscription adds over 10,000 well-known songs, from The Beatles and Disney to John Legend and Ed Sheeran, along with more advanced mixed reality features such as curated environments for your room.

Other recent additions include Ludwig, an AI piano teacher, automatic fingering suggestions, better sheet music support with MIDI import, and an improved virtual keyboard that follows your hands more precisely. The developer notes that some players prefer the older first version of the app, and offers access to it by email ([email protected]).

Multiplayer

The store lists multiplayer alongside single-player, but the description does not say what playing together involves.

Comfort

Meta rates PianoVision comfortable for most people. It supports sitting, standing and room-scale use, and it runs on hand tracking only, with no controller support. Sitting at a keyboard is the obvious setup.
