Layers of Fear VR is a first-person psychological horror adventure from Incuvo S.A., published by Bloober Team S.A.. You wander a Victorian mansion that keeps changing around you while uncovering the story of a painter sliding into madness. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on July 9, 2020.
How it plays
The game is story-driven and played alone. You move through rooms filled with grim paintings, search for clues and solve unsettling puzzles to learn what drove the artist over the edge. Your goal is to help him complete the masterpiece he has been chasing for years, and the house shifts as you go, so you can never fully trust what you see.
The developer describes it as psychedelic horror and says this version was reworked for standalone Quest with more interaction and immersion than a straight port. Expect a dark atmosphere and disturbing imagery rather than combat.
Comfort
Meta gives it a moderate comfort rating, so if you are prone to motion sickness, start with shorter sessions. The store lists support for playing sitting, standing or at room scale. You play with controllers.
