Dark Trip - SideQuest Exclusive Demo is a free trial of a horror puzzle game from iWorlds. It works like a psychedelic escape room: you play an investigator who has to take pills, and the hallucinations they cause are part of how you solve puzzles. It is distributed through SideQuest, where it was first listed in April 2025.
How it plays
The story begins in a small German town, where the only daughter of a retired businessman has disappeared. Hired to find her, you discover what appears to be an abandoned laboratory. Room by room, you find signs of disturbing experiments, notebooks left behind by staff and accounts from test subjects.
Puzzles sit at the center of the game, and the drugs your character takes change how you see the surroundings. According to the developer, the mechanics alter gameplay and puzzle elements depending on the protagonist's mental state. The tone draws on Lovecraftian horror, with grotesque biotechnological machinery throughout.
