BattleGlide is an open-world action sandbox from Ghostly Bird Games in which you play a superhero-style crime fighter in a city you can swing, jump and climb through. It mixes shooter gunplay with hand-to-hand fighting and a physics simulation of how weapons and bodies react. The game arrived on the Meta Horizon Store on August 17, 2023, and is still in early access.
How it plays
You get around with a rope that lets you swing between buildings, plus jumping and wall climbing. Before heading out you pick the time of day, from daylight through dusk to full night. Criminals roam the streets, and the game leaves it up to you how to deal with them.
- Grab, punch, shoot or disarm enemies, or throw them off the top of a skyscraper.
- Weapons are handled physically, so you can pull a gun out of an enemy's hand and turn it on its owner.
- The arsenal runs from bare fists and pistols to assault rifles, baseball bats, explosives, large props and even frying pans.
Multiplayer
The store lists single-player along with co-op, player-versus-player and player-versus-environment modes. The description itself does not explain how online play works, so check the store page for current details on modes and player counts.
Comfort
Meta rates BattleGlide as intense, which fits a game built around rope swinging, long falls and fast movement across rooftops. If you are prone to motion sickness in VR, start with short sessions. It supports sitting and standing play and uses controllers; hand tracking is not listed.
