Crafting Crimes is a free media and creativity app from TARGO that turns a true crime podcast into a mixed reality experience. Instead of only listening, you build each case as a miniature model in front of you. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on October 1, 2025.
What you can do
Your host is the miniaturist Carol K. Ras, who tells each story while you assemble it. Every episode runs about 20 minutes. You use hand gestures to place walls, objects and evidence, and the scene takes shape in your hands so you can study it at your own speed.
There are three episodes, each about a famous case:
- The Lizzie Borden murders in Victorian America.
- The Wonderland House case, set during a violent period in 1980s Hollywood.
- The 1911 theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in Belle Époque Paris, the newest episode.
The subject matter is real crime, including murder, which fits the 12+ age rating. There is no puzzle to fail; the building is a way to follow the investigation more closely.
Comfort
Meta rates it as comfortable for most people. It supports sitting and standing play and is played with hand tracking only, with no controller support listed. There are no controllers involved, so you will need decent lighting for hand tracking to work well.
