Anne Frank House VR

Anne Frank House VR is a learning and education app from Vertigo Games and Knucklehead Studios, published by Vertigo Games, that recreates the Secret Annex in Amsterdam where Anne Frank and her family hid during the Second World War. It also works as a virtual travel and exploration visit to the house. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since June 26, 2019.

What you can do

In 1942, thirteen-year-old Anne Frank, her family and four other people went into hiding from Nazi persecution in rooms at the back of an office building. The eight of them lived there for more than two years in cramped conditions, always at risk of being found.

The app lets you walk through each room of the Annex, rebuilt in detail, with Anne's own thoughts accompanying you along the way. By the end you learn what happened to the people who hid there. It is a quiet, reflective experience rather than a game, and it shows the Annex in a way a regular visit to the museum cannot.

The subject is serious, so parents may want to go through it together with younger children.

Comfort

Meta rates Anne Frank House VR comfortable for most people. It supports standing and room-scale play with controllers; there is no seated mode listed.
