Cydream's Voxel Playground, a physics sandbox in which nearly every object is built from tiny destructible voxels, launched on PC VR through Steam on October 27, according to UploadVR. MIXED reports that the Steam early access version costs $6.99, comes with a free demo, and can also be played on a regular monitor.
What's new
The game first arrived in early access on the Meta Horizon Store at the end of 2025. Its Quest listing shows a December 24, 2025 release date and an average of about 4.8 stars from more than 5,000 ratings. The Steam release opens the sandbox to SteamVR headsets and to flat-screen PC players.
UploadVR lists seven sandbox maps, including Bank Heist, Prison, Night Club, Construction Site and Bloodmoon, along with community mod support, a survival mode and overhauled gore and destruction systems. The bank heist arrived in an October 16 update. According to MIXED, players can go in quietly with a security uniform and keycards or break through with a pickaxe and C4, then deal with cameras, guards, witnesses and an alarm system while carrying loot to a getaway van. The same update made weapon handling more hands-on, with working pistol slides, sniper bolts and revolver cylinders, and added a toggle for blood effects.
Price and roadmap
MIXED says Cydream expects Steam early access to last 12 to 24 months, with more scenarios, progression systems, improved building tools and performance work planned. UploadVR reports that multiplayer is planned for a Christmas update. The Quest listing warns that the price will go up as development continues.
The minimum PC requirements listed are an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 16GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX 1060.
What it means for players
At $6.99, Voxel Playground is one of the cheapest ways to try a destruction-focused VR sandbox on PC, and the free demo lets players test performance on their own hardware first. Buying early also locks in the lower price before the planned increases.
