Sport Mode is a physics sandbox for Meta Quest where you spawn weapons, NPCs and props, stack fun modifiers and fight waves of enemies in an arena mode.
Sport Mode is a physics-driven shooter and action sandbox from Virtuaport, with simulation-style physics at its center. Every hit, grab and impact runs through realistic physics, with the aim of making the virtual world feel solid in your hands. It came to the Meta Horizon Store on April 13, 2021.
How it plays
There are two main ways to play:
- Arena Mode: hold out against waves of enemies and chase the highest score.
- Sandbox Mode: spawn weapons, NPCs and props with a button press and do whatever you like with them.
The sandbox gets most of its variety from modifiers. You can adjust your strength and speed, toggle dismemberment and oil splatter, stop time, strap on a jetpack and more. There are no set goals in the sandbox; it is a space to experiment and see what the physics does. The developer says more levels, modes, weapons, tools, props, modifiers and vehicles are planned.
Comfort
Sport Mode supports sitting, standing and room-scale play with controllers. Fast movement such as the jetpack can be a lot for newer players, so if you are prone to motion sickness in VR, ease in with slower settings.
