Band Space

Band Space is a rhythm game from Smartmelon Games, published by Fast Travel Games, that lets you form a virtual rock band. You pick an instrument, take the stage and play through songs with friends or on your own. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on October 24, 2024.

How it plays

Each instrument has its own way of playing: you slide along to catch notes on guitar and bass, hit the beat on the drums and play runs on the keyboard. Every song has a separate chart for each instrument, so the experience holds up whichever part you choose.

• Four instruments: guitar, bass, drums and keyboard
• Five arenas to perform in
• A mix of popular and indie tracks included
• Solo practice and a mixed reality mode
• Mod.io support to import extra songs in single player

The simulation side is light: this is about playing along with the music rather than learning a real instrument.

Multiplayer

Up to four players can meet online as a band and play songs together, each on a different instrument. This is the main social draw. If you would rather play alone, you can take any instrument through any song by yourself.

Comfort

Meta rates Band Space as comfortable for most people. You can play sitting or standing, using controllers.
