Blueplanet VR Explore v2.5

Blueplanet VR Explore v2.5 is a travel and exploration app from Blueplanet VR that takes you to remarkable natural landscapes and cultural heritage sites. Its aim is a strong feeling of actually standing in each location. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since May 20, 2021.

What you can do

You choose a scene from a lobby and then look around the location at your own pace. Version 2.5 changed how the content is sold and organized:

• The former DLC expansion packs were folded into the base app, adding 40 scenes; the developer describes the price increase as modest.
• People who already owned the base app get the new scenes free.
• The lobby is now grouped by scene category, which makes it easier to find a place.

The list of locations is long. Highlights from the US Southwest include Antelope Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Red Rock Canyon, Chaco Canyon, Bears Ears and Ubehebe Crater. There are caves and lava tubes such as Carlsbad Caverns, the Mojave Lava Tube and an Iceland lava tube, along with an Iceland glacier, canyon and waterfall. Temple sites include Mahabodhi Temple, Borobudur Temple, Sewu Temple, Goa Gajah, Goa Lawah, Tengboche Temple and Qutub Minar. More unusual stops include Ayers Rock, an ancient bristlecone pine and the Satsop Nuclear Plant.

Comfort

Meta rates Blueplanet VR Explore as comfortable for most people. It supports sitting, standing and room-scale use with Touch controllers, so you can take in each site from a chair.
