Resonite is a free social and creative VR platform from Czech studio Yellow Dog Man Studios, and part of the Social category. It entered Steam Early Access on October 6, 2023, and is still in Early Access today. It was created by Tomáš "Frooxius" Mariančík and is often described as the spiritual successor to his earlier platform, NeosVR.

What it does

Resonite mixes hanging out with building. Almost everything in a world can be edited live, together with other people, without taking off the headset: you can import 3D models, assemble avatars and tools, and save items to a cloud inventory that follows you from world to world. Interactivity comes from ProtoFlux, a node-based visual scripting system used for anything from avatar gadgets to complete games. In March 2026 the studio released a beta SDK that converts worlds and avatars from the Unity Editor.

Social and multiplayer

You meet others as custom avatars with low-latency voice chat. Resonite supports full-body tracking with up to 11 tracking points, eye and face tracking, and haptic devices. Sessions can be public or restricted, and the session host, plus any moderators the host appoints, can manage users from the Session menu. Resonite's terms require users to be at least 16, and its guidelines allow adult content only in private sessions where everyone is 18 or older and has consented.

Comfort

Comfort depends on the world you visit and the locomotion you pick, since Resonite offers custom locomotion options. Neither Steam nor the developer publishes a comfort rating. You can also switch to a desktop mode with mouse and keyboard.

Platforms and what to know before buying

  • Resonite is free on Steam for SteamVR headsets such as the Valve Index. Steam lists no paid add-ons; the studio is funded partly through optional supporter subscriptions, including Patreon.
  • There is no native version for standalone headsets, so Quest owners stream it from a PC. With Steam Link, the face and eye tracking of the Meta Quest Pro works natively.
  • Steam lists Windows 10, 8 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 750-class GPU as the minimum, with 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 2070-class GPU recommended; playing in VR needs more than the minimum.
  • The interface is available in 23 languages.
  • Steam reviews are Mostly Positive overall, with a Mixed score for recent reviews.
