Terra Alia: A Multilingual Adventure is an adventure game from 30 Parallel Inc that teaches a new language through play. It is set in a world where technology, magic and language blend together. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on November 30, 2023.
How it plays
Professor Esperanto guides you through Terra Alia's academy of magic, where your mentor has gone missing. Finding out what happened means solving puzzles, following clues and completing quests. Your character grows stronger as you pick up new words, unlock magical items, talk with other characters and explore.
- Ten languages to learn: Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish.
- Combat built on language, where you change tactics to suit different enemies.
- Collectible wooden figures called Terra Buddies hidden around the world.
The mix of quests, puzzles and fights keeps the vocabulary practice inside a story, rather than in drills.
Multiplayer
A multiplayer mode, labeled beta, puts teams of two against each other in the Downtown level, so four players in total. Matches run over three rounds that test your language skills, and they can be played in any of the ten languages.
Comfort
Meta rates Terra Alia as comfortable for most people. It supports seated, standing and room-scale play and uses controllers.
