MissionX VR Laser Tag

MissionX VR Laser Tag is a competitive shooter with action and strategy elements from Holomia. It turns your play space into a free-roam laser tag arena in mixed reality, where you walk around for real, plan with your team and shoot it out with friends and family. It came to the Meta Horizon Store on June 17, 2021.

How it plays

There are two ways to set up an arena:

• A ready-made 4 by 4 arena for one-on-one matches.
• A custom arena of any size in mixed reality, for teams of up to five players each.

The developer suggests large spaces such as a backyard, a warehouse or a basketball court. You can fight other players or team up against AI enemies. Holomia links to setup videos on the store page that explain how to build an arena and get a match running.

Multiplayer

For shared matches, everyone has to line up their position. You mark a spot on the floor, each player stands on it, looks straight ahead and holds the controller's home button for three seconds to sync. An internet connection is required.

Comfort

Meta rates MissionX as comfortable for most people, since you move by walking. It is room-scale only and uses controllers. One important safety note: to use a large area you have to turn off the Guardian boundary, so check the space carefully for furniture and other obstacles before you play.
