Polyphony's PS5 driving simulator with a free PS VR2 mode that puts you in the cockpit for nearly the whole game, from races to the VR Showroom.
Gran Turismo 7 is a racing simulation from Polyphony Digital, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It launched on PS5 and PS4 in March 2022 as a regular flat-screen game. On February 21, 2023, a day before PlayStation VR2 went on sale, a free update added full VR support to the PS5 version, and it has been one of the headset's flagship titles ever since.
The VR mode
In VR you sit inside a detailed cockpit at true scale. You can look into corners, check mirrors with a turn of the head and judge distances naturally. Almost every mode is playable in VR, including the campaign, single races, time trials and online racing. The notable exception is two-player split screen. The update also added a VR Showroom where you can view cars up close.
The game
Gran Turismo 7 combines a large car collection, tuning and a guided campaign built around the history of car culture. Online racing supports up to 20 players and requires PlayStation Plus. Polyphony continues to release free updates with new cars and tracks; the first part of the Spec IV update arrived in October 2026. A paid Power Pack add-on for PS5, released in December 2025, adds 50 new races, 24-hour endurance events and the Sophy 3.0 AI.
Controls and comfort
VR racing is played seated with a DualSense controller or a compatible steering wheel; a wheel and pedals add a lot to the experience. Fast cornering and crashes can be intense for people sensitive to motion, so short first sessions are a good idea.
