First Person Tennis - The Real Tennis Simulator is a sports simulation game from Mikori Games. You hold the racket yourself and play full tennis matches, backed by a physics system the studio built to recreate real tennis strokes. The developer says it tuned the game with help from its community and from professional players, and it describes the project as one that keeps being developed. It arrived on the Meta Horizon Store on June 2, 2022.

How it plays

The game is meant for people who already play tennis as well as people who have never held a racket, with several difficulty levels and settings to adjust. You can play singles or doubles and switch between a looser arcade mode and a stricter simulation mode.

  • Seven court surfaces, including clay, grass, several hard courts and indoor synthetic.
  • 13 tournaments: 4 Slams and 9 Masters events.
  • A one-handed serve option.
  • Three ways to cover the court: teleport, running in place or a sliding run.
  • Customizable 3D players and a global leaderboard.
  • A mixed reality mode.

Multiplayer

Online multiplayer lets you play against other people over the internet. The studio runs a Discord server where players look for opponents and doubles partners, and the developer says it holds online tournaments there every month with prizes. Meta also lists the game under social titles.

Comfort

Meta rates First Person Tennis as comfortable for most people. You can play sitting, standing or room-scale, using controllers. If smooth movement makes you uneasy, teleport is one of the three movement options, which can help with motion sickness.
