Exorcism Agency

Exorcism Agency is a multiplayer ghost-hunting adventure from Atombits Studio, published by Unity. You and your team work as exorcists, visiting haunted locations and carrying out the whole job, from first detecting a ghost to hunting it down. It was released on the Meta Horizon Store on February 8, 2024.

How it plays

Your first case is the Haunted Village, and later you move on to the much tougher Forbidden Campus. More than ten ghost types, such as the Evil Clown and the Crawl Woman, are matched against over twenty tools. Working out which ghost you face is a puzzle built from the clues you collect, and the developer says a tragic backstory comes together the deeper you dig.

• Investigation tools including EMF detectors, spirit boxes and a salt gun
• Upgraded gear such as the Frozen Gun, Tesla Gun Plus and Polaroid Plus
• Magic Gesture: draw a sigil to raise a shield or dome, form a light blade or reveal hidden ghosts
• Ghost Wall: corridors loop and send you back while the ghost closes in, until you enter the right input

The developer warns of a steep learning curve and points players to its Discord for tips.

Multiplayer

Co-op is the focus. Friends can split into detective, guardian and support roles, and the store lists an internet connection as required.

Comfort

Meta rates it intense, which means it is comfortable for only a few people. You can play seated, standing or room-scale, with controllers. Newer players should check the in-game options and our guide to motion sickness in VR.
