Cactus Cowboy - Plants At War

Cactus Cowboy - Plants At War is a free story-driven shooter and action-adventure game from Cactus VR Studios with a World War 2 theme. It came out on the Meta Horizon Store on April 16, 2022.

How it plays

A bug army has launched a surprise attack on Cacti Island, and the Cacti Army sends you to the front. Fighting next to your comrade Emilio, you battle through trenches, towns and forests while slowly uncovering who was behind the treacherous strike.

Along the way you meet new friends, pick up new skills and hold out against waves of bugs that do not let up. The developer says it is designed to push your weapon handling further than before, and it presents the game as a big adventure set in the wider Cactus Cowboy world.

It is a single-player campaign. The same studio also has Cactus Cowboy - Fully Loaded, a story shooter against an alien robot invasion, and Cactus Cowboy Portal VR, an escape from an underground lab.

Comfort

Meta rates Plants At War intense, meaning it is comfortable for only a few people. It supports standing and room-scale play, using motion controllers. If you are new to VR shooters, read up on motion sickness in VR and take breaks between missions.
