Icosa Foundation
Non-profit open-source group behind Open Brush, Open Blocks and Icosa Gallery, the community-led successors to Google's Tilt Brush, Blocks and Poly.
The Icosa Foundation is a non-profit group that builds open-source creative tools for VR and 3D. Its work began when Google shut down Poly, its free library for 3D models, which had been a major home for art made in Google's Tilt Brush and Blocks.
The foundation maintains three main projects, all released under the Apache 2.0 license:
- Open Brush, the community-led continuation of Tilt Brush, built on the source code Google released in 2021.
- Open Blocks, a continuation of Google Blocks for simple 3D modeling.
- Icosa Gallery, a free hosting site for 3D models meant as a replacement for Poly.
Open Brush is free on the Meta Horizon Store, Steam and the PICO Store, and a free update in May 2025 added cross-platform multiplayer. Part of the foundation's work is funded through NGI0 Entrust, a fund set up by NLnet with support from the European Commission's Next Generation Internet program. In December 2025, HTC VIVERSE and the foundation announced a collaboration to bring Open Brush's web viewer into multiplayer browser experiences.
