ShapesXR

ShapesXR is a creativity and design app from Shapes Corp. for prototyping 3D products and XR applications, including AR apps meant for smart glasses. It is aimed at designers and product teams who want to sketch and test spatial ideas quickly. It has been on the Meta Horizon Store since November 11, 2021.

What you can do

The developer says you need no earlier 3D experience to start.

• Build scenes: pick from a large library of 3D models, bring in your own 2D and 3D assets, or start from basic shapes and brushes.
• Add interaction: animations and triggers let a prototype react, and you can arrange it as a spatial presentation that plays in VR or mixed reality.
• Work with other tools: import interactive Figma prototypes and play them in the headset, and send designs to Unity through a dedicated plug-in.
• Team controls: permissions, roles and moderation tools for larger teams, plus SOC 2 Type 2 security, according to the developer.

Multiplayer

ShapesXR is built for collaboration. You can invite colleagues into the same space in VR, or share a link so others can review and edit the design in real time from a web browser.

Comfort

Meta rates ShapesXR as comfortable for most people. Supported play modes are sitting, standing and room-scale, and it uses controllers.
